Terms of Use

Effective May 4, 2026

Plain-English summary

This is a pre-launch landing page for a project being built by one person. Reading the page is free. Donating is voluntary and not a transaction for goods or services. There are no warranties; use at your own risk. United States law applies. Disputes are individual, not class-action. Email me with any concerns instead of going to court — I'm one person and will probably just fix it.

1. The Service

"Service" means the website at scammingexposed.com and any subdomain, including the donate flow, waitlist signup, and any future product (the searchable scam database, the browser extension, the mobile app). The Service is operated by Eric Keller, an individual sole proprietor in the United States, reachable at eric@scammingexposed.com.

2. Pre-launch status

The site is currently a pre-launch / fundraising page. The features described — the database, browser extension, and phone app — are not yet built. There is no guaranteed delivery date. I will publish progress in a quarterly transparency ledger. If I am ever unable to continue the project, I will publish a notice and refund recurring donors per the Refund Policy.

3. Donations

Donations are processed through Stripe. Donations are voluntary contributions, not payment for goods or services. No tangible goods, services, or commercial benefits are exchanged. Any "tier" labels (e.g., "Founding Patron") are recognition only. Recurring donations bill monthly until you cancel; you can cancel any time via the link in your Stripe receipt or by emailing me.

Donations are not tax-deductible. ScammingExposed is not a registered 501(c)(3). I am exploring fiscal sponsorship; if and when that changes, I will update this page and offer back-dated receipts to existing patrons where the law allows.

4. Refunds

See the Refund Policy. Short version: email me within 30 days for one-time donations, cancel any time for recurring. I'll work with you in good faith.

5. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to break, scrape at scale, or abuse the Service.
  • Submit false email addresses, false donation records, or someone else's payment method.
  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or doxx anyone.
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to bypass authentication or rate-limiting.

6. Intellectual property

The text, code, and design of the Service are © Eric Keller, all rights reserved, except where the source code is published under an open-source license on GitHub (MIT-style, on launch). Logos and brand marks belong to their respective owners. The data the Service ingests from public-domain government sources, court records, and CC-licensed open-source feeds remains under its original license; my ingest pipeline is open-source.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. The data displayed and the future scam-detection features are informational only and not legal, financial, or security advice. If you suspect you've been scammed, contact your bank, the police, and the relevant fraud authority immediately — not this site.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ERIC STONE'S LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU DONATED IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) USD $100. I AM NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

9. Privacy

See the Privacy Policy.

10. Termination

I may suspend or terminate the Service or any account at any time for any reason, including non-compliance with these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination doesn't affect rights or obligations that by their nature survive (sections 6, 7, 8, 11, 12).

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis (no class actions) in Sumner County, Kansas, except small-claims actions, which may be brought in either party's local small-claims court.

12. Changes

If I update these Terms, the effective date at the top of the page changes. Material changes will be announced on the homepage and (for waitlist subscribers) via email at least 30 days in advance.
